Native American Pictures
When you are ready to add some cultural acquisitions to your homes dcor, take a few moments to think about what type of statement you want the art to make. Many people decide that they want their artwork to speak to the spiritual side of life, which in turn leads them to consider the purchase of Native American pictures. Before you run out to your local art gallery and pay a premium for artwork, think a bit about how to figure out if your potential art pieces are really authentic.
To begin with, get some information about the gallery in which you found the piece. Is it known as a reputable establishment? Does it have a Better Business Bureau membership? Most quality galleries will provide you with information about any memberships they have, as well as a brief history about the ownership and what type of art they normally carry. Galleries that specialize in Native American art should be very willing to chat with you about who their artists are. If you meet with resistance when you try to find out this information, it may be time to look elsewhere.
Once you have found some Native American pictures you like, get the name of the artists or photographers. Some artists may reside in the same town as the gallery, but many do not. Finding out information about the artists may be tricky, but spend some time performing some type of research. Has the artist had much commercial success? Is the artist or photographer a member of Native American tribe? Have they had formal training or not? If you can find a website that has information about the artists, you may be able to find out more about them in that way. Otherwise, a phone call or a short visit could be in order. Dont feel like you are being intrusive; many artists welcome patrons who want to learn more about their art.
Finally, if authenticity does not really matter to you, simply choose some Native American pictures you like and enjoy them at face value! Remember, you dont have to pay a premium for artwork, unless the investment value appeals to you.
